Domestic Violence and Legal Aid

An Awareness Programme on Domestic Violence and Legal Aid was successfully organized at Little Stars Senior Secondary School on 30 May 2026. The programme featured Adv. Nibha Baruah Borah as the resource person, who conducted an informative and engaging session on various aspects of domestic violence, including its causes, consequences, and the legal remedies available to victims. She also emphasized the importance of legal awareness and access to legal aid services. During her presentation, Adv. Borah highlighted the growing risks associated with digital platforms, such as online fraud, cyberbullying, identity theft, phishing, and the misuse of social media. In an interactive session with the students, she stressed the importance of responsible digital behavior and shared practical measures to ensure online safety and security. The programme was highly informative and helped create awareness among the students about both personal safety and legal rights in the digital age.

TWO DAY RYLA CAMP

A Two day RYLA Camp was organized by Rotary Club of Digboi at Oil Valley School, Digboi on 9th and 10th May, 2026. All total 86 students from Digboi and neighbouring areas participated in the camp. Various programs like NEXTGEN CHANGEMAKER, TRASH TO TREASURE, HEROES IN ACTION,, MIND MATTERS, MATH MANIA, SPOT LIGHT session etc were successfully conducted during the camp . After completion of the programs Awards are given to the best RYLA BOY, BEST RYLA GIRL, BEST PERFORMERS, BEST TEAM along with the distribution of participation Certificates to all participants.

Domestic Violence,Legal aid Conflict Prevention

An outreach program on Domestic Violence and Legal Aid for Conflict Prevention was organized by Rotary Club Digboi in association with Women Studies and Development Cell , Margherita College at Town High School, Margherita, on 25th April, 2026. Advocate Nibha Baruah Bora, was the speaker. Rtn Deepasree Das Sarkar initiated the process of discussion by delivering the necessity, pros and cons of Domestic Violence Act , 2005. The speaker highlighted the issues like mental , physical, emotional harrasment, dowry related issues, cyber crime, pocso act, inhouse threat to the children, safety of the girl child from very known familer persons, societal stigma and so on. She has also highlighted various helpline numbers and the role of the NGOs in this matter.

Skill Enhancement Program on Organic Farming

A Skill Enhancement Program on Organic Farming has been organized by Rotary Club of Digboi on 27th and 28th April for the students of BA, BSc and B Voc courses of Digboi College. Rtn Arup Goswami made an audio visual presentation on various aspects of Organic farming among 72 student Participants. A demonstration on Vermicomposting, liquid organic fertilizer Preparation and mushroom cultivation was made by Iqbal. In the second day session student Participants practised bed Preparation for organic farming, packaging of Vermicompost and manuring the crops.

Panel Discussion on ENDOMETRIOSIS

The theme for International Womens Day 2026 is *"Give To Gain"*, emphasizing the positive impact of generosity and support for women, leading to societal growth and equality. Additionally, the United Nations observes International Womens Day 2026 with the theme *"Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls"*, focusing on equal justice, protection of womens rights, and collective action towards gender equality . In conjunction with both the theme, Rotary Club of Digboi and NSS, Digboi College unit organised a panel discussion on de busting Myths regarding Endometriosis in Girls Hostel, Digboi on 8th March 2026 at 6 pm in the college hostel premises . The program was conducted by Rtn Rajib Rudra Tariang. The panel discussion was moderated by Rtn Dr Nirza Saikia, O & G specialist, Digboi CHC . The students interacted actively. The program ended with cake cutting with the cook and helpers of Girls’ Hostel.

Awareness Program on Hand Washing Techniques

In conjunction with the March Rotary Theme, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Rotary Club of Digboi organized an Awareness Program on Hand Washing techniques as an initiative to promote hygiene and sanitation among the students. The programme was held at Borjan LP School on 26th March,2026. The Secretary of Rotary Club of Digboi Rtn Dr. Dipen Borthakur demonstrated six steps of hand washing techniques to the students and explained how various diseases can be prevented by applying proper hand washing techniques. The programme was attended by the members of Rotary Club of Digboi, school staff, students and other members of the village.

In observance of the March theme of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), the Rotary Club of Digboi undertook a meaningful initiative by constructing a concrete wash basin at Borjan LP School. On 26th March 2026, the ceremonial inauguration of the wash basin was held in the presence of Rotary members, school staff, and students. The programme was hosted by Dr. Dipen Borthakur, Secretary of the club. The school authority conveyed thanks to RC Digboi for this initiative taken for the benifits of the students of rural area.

Under the **Know Your Number** project, Rotary Club of Digboi organized a Free Health Check-up Camp on 17th July, 2025 at Margherita Chariali. The camp focused on the estimation of Random Blood Sugar, Body Weight, and Blood Pressure. A total of 34 individuals were registered for the health screening. During the camp, 7 cases of diabetes and 5 cases of high blood pressure were detected. Following the screening, Rtn. Dr. Dipen Borthakur provided medical consultation and offered necessary advice to the beneficiaries regarding further management and lifestyle modifications. The camp was attended by local residents of Margherita, students of Digboi College, President of RC Digboi, Rtn Santanu Roy and the staff of Urban PHC, Margherita.

A Free Eye Check-Up and Spectacle Distribution Camp was organized by the Rotary Club of Digboi on 17th March, 2026 at 2 No. Golai Parthamik Vidyalaya. A total of 202 beneficiaries were screened during the camp, which included 85 students and teachers of 2 No. Golai Parthamik Vidyalaya and 117 residents from the 2 No. Golai locality.

Vaccination and Campaigning of HPV Vaccines

Rotary Club of Digboi, in association with Team UPHC, Margherita, organized an Awareness-cum-Campaign Programme on Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection, its updated vaccination protocol , vaccination process. The programme was held at the AR&T Company Anganwadi Centre, Margherita, on 18th March 2026. The secretary Rtn Dr. Dipen Borthakur attended as the resource person and interacted by addressing the importance of early prevention, timely vaccination, and awareness among the community. More than 35 parents along with their adolescent girls actively participated in the programme, making it a meaningful and impactful awareness initiative. Girls of age 14 to 15 years are vaccinated after the camp.

Cataract Detection and Follow up Operation Camp

A Cataract Detection Camp was organized by the Rotary Club of Digboi on 17th March, 2026 at 2 No. Golai Parthamik Vidyalaya. The camp was conducted in association with the District Blindness Control Society, Tinsukia. A total of 117 persons were screened during the camp, out of which 20 individuals were diagnosed with cataract. Necessary arrangements have been made for their follow-up surgeries at Dibrugarh.

Free Mega Eye Check-Up Camp

Rotary Club of Digboi organized a free Mega Eye checkup camp on 7th March at Tingrai bazar to provide basic eye care service & to identity vision problem. A total 309 patients were screened during the camp. After examination free spectacles were distributed as per requirement. Additionaly 26 patients were detected to need high power spectacles, which will be arranged & provided shortly & a total 22 cataract patients were detected . Provision has been made for their free surgery . The camp received a very positive respon from the local people & helped in creating awareness about eye health & vision care.

On the occasion of International Womens day, 2026 a Felicitation Program was organized by Rotary Club of Digboi at its Club premises. Two woman entrepreneurs Baby Borah, proprietor of a stationary store and Binita Gogoi Dutta, owner of an ethnic restaurants , a boutique and a catering service provider were felicitated in the program held on 8th March, 2026. The President of the club Rtn Santanu Roy delivered the welcome address. Health and Nutritional Awareness Camp

A **Health and Nutritional Awareness Program for post-natal mothers** was organized by **Rotary Club of Digboi** on **5th March, 2026** at the **Anganwadi Centre of AR&T Company, Margherita**. A total of **35 mothers**, along with **5 medical staff** and **4 ASHA workers**, attended the program. The session was conducted by **Rtn. Dr. Dipen Borthakur**, who spoke about the importance of proper nutrition, personal hygiene, breastfeeding practices, and overall health care for mothers and newborns during the post-natal period. The **President of RC Digboi, Rtn. Santanu Roy**, also addressed the gathering and assured continued support from the club for similar health awareness initiatives in the future. The program concluded with an interactive discussion where participants shared their concerns and received guidance from the resource person.

All total 84 members were screened and 31 were found to have Cataract. All Cataract detected patients were sent to Lions KK Saharia eye hospital, Dibrugarh for follow up operation. All have undergone successful Cataract operation at free of cost.
